What is Lido?

Lido is a liquid staking solution that supports Ethereum (ETH) staking.

Normally, once your crypto is staked, it's locked and cannot be moved until it’s unstaked.

When you use liquid staking on Lido, you are given a tokenized version of your staked funds. This allows you to use your crypto in DeFi protocols that offer services such as lending, collateral, trading, and more, all while continuing to earn rewards from the staked funds.

Lido’s staked tokens are designed to closely track the value of ETH, though prices can sometimes vary. Because Lido is non-custodial, your assets generally remain under your control.

The Lido protocol is open source, and its code has been audited. In addition to that, the participating validators have been vetted, and the dApp is governed by a DAO.

Before choosing to stake with Lido, please read about the risks of dApps in our Knowledge Base article: Safety and security for DeFi and Web3.

You can also read through Lido's documentation for more information on Lido and how to use it.

Lido is a third-party platform that is not affiliated with Exodus. As such, Exodus cannot guarantee the performance of its products/services or that the steps shown and the information provided will always be accurate.

Are there fees for using Lido?

You can connect to and disconnect from Lido without any fees. However, staking through Lido will incur a network transaction fee, also known as a gas fee. These fees can vary depending on network traffic.

Additionally, Lido charges a 10% staking fee from earned rewards. This fee goes to the Lido DAO, the staking validators, and the Lido cover fund.
